Businesses in Sabah are encouraged to take advantage of the stock market's potential for companies growth.  

On the 27th of October 2022 – Baker Tilly Sabah organised an IPO Roadmap in collaboration with Bursa Malaysia that aims to educate business owners in Sabah on the benefit of “going public”. This roadmap focused on the important key areas on the journey, and what businesses can expect if they decide to be listed in Bursa Malaysia.

In his speech, YB Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Joachim Gunsalam, Minister of Industrial Development cum Deputy Chief Minister Sabah, urged all Sabah companies that satisfy the criteria to take the leap in the IPO journey, as this will drive the local economy in Sabah and thus increase economic growth. 

Dato’ George Lim, the Managing Partner of Baker Tilly Sabah, stated that, even with the increasing challenges faced by Small and medium-sized enterprise (SMEs) in Sabah. We are still keen to help them to grow and become listed in Bursa Malaysia hence helping develop the state economy and welfare, he said in his speech. 

Bursa Malaysia, represented by Farrish Ishak the Vice President of Bursa Malaysia, that every business that wants to be in the IPO journey should prepare at least 1-2 years in advance, and evaluate their company’s readiness to be in this journey. 

Paul Tan, Partner Transaction Reporting at Baker Tilly Malaysia also assures that the Baker Tilly team are dedicated and ready to assist their clients as they have 60 experts in the organisation. In his presentation, he also reinstated that Baker Tilly corporate and finance team are well-equipped to assist companies with their listing objective.

As the pandemic hits the country nationwide in 2020, Baker Tilly Malaysia was the Reporting Accountants with the highest number of IPOs on Bursa Malaysia.
